1st Confessions & First Holy Communions24.3.20
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We have just received the following from His Grace, the Archbishop:
“Following the Prime Minister’s announcement a few minutes ago, I write to confirm that our churches are to be closed until further notice. I will seek clarification tomorrow from the Scottish Government about funerals and other rites, and will be in touch with you again as soon as possible. In the meantime, all our churches are to be kept closed until we receive instructions to the contrary.
Be assured of my prayers for each of you at this difficult moment”
Accordingly, and with profound sadness, I am writing to let you know that St Margaret’s will not open tomorrow and will remain closed until further notice. Kindly let anyone know who may not have email or access to the internet and who may be planning to visit the church.
As you know, the civil authorities have announced that they foresee that the current measures will be in place for some weeks. Therefore, it seems that we will be unable to go ahead with the date for 1st Confessions on Tuesday 24th March or First Holy Communions on 6th June as planned. Very regrettably, I am afraid that we must cancel.
Please know that I share your disappointment and that of the children who have been preparing hard to receive Jesus for the first time.
I think that it would be unwise to reschedule until we definitely know that we are able to celebrate the Mass publicly again.
Let’s keep one another in prayer, asking that we will soon be able to gather before the altar again.
Prayerful good wishes,
