Each child and staff member in St Margaret’s Primary is placed within one of our four Houses. Each House is named after a Saint and given a colour. We have St Andrew; St Columba; St Mungo and St John Ogilvie as our four House Saints.
As part of our positive behaviour policy children have many reward systems in school. Each class devises its own reward system (such as Class Dojos) which run alongside the whole school house rewards, which are Golden Tokens. These Golden Tokens are awarded by all staff to children for special achievements, or recognition of outstanding behaviour. Each week the Golden Tokens are added to their House teams total and at the end of each term there is a special prize for the winning house. Our Parent Council kindly donates a sum of money to go towards a reward of the childrens choosing. Special House events such as Sports Day are organised to allow children to work with pupils from different age and stage ranges all working together.
Each month there is a House meeting where all the children from each House come together to discuss and work around a common theme. These themes are linked to our Health & Wellbeing (Creating Confident Kids) curriculum and are planned around topics such as ‘friendship’ and ‘Transition’.
